2 Data Collection

Smart Expense Tracker collects absolutely no personal data.

🚫 We do not collect: names, email addresses, device identifiers, IP addresses, location, usage analytics, crash reports, or any other information about you or your device.

All data you create — transactions, budgets, categories, savings goals — is stored exclusively on your device using local encrypted storage.

3 How Your Data Is Used

Data you enter is used only within the app to provide the features you use:

Displaying your expense and income history
Calculating totals, net balance, and savings goals
Generating charts and spending insights
Tracking per-category budgets and alerts

💡 Your data is never processed, analyzed, or sent anywhere outside your device.
            

4 Data Sharing

We share your data with no one — no third parties, no advertisers, no analytics providers, no government agencies (unless legally compelled), and no partner companies. There are no partners.

5 Data Security

Your financial data is secured on-device using industry-standard encryption:

Hive AES-256 Encryption — your expense and income transaction records are stored in an AES-256 encrypted Hive box. The encryption key is generated once and stored securely in the Android Keystore via flutter_secure_storage.
Budget categories — monthly budget limits per category are stored in a separate unencrypted local Hive box. This data contains no personal financial figures — only category names and spending limits you set (e.g. "Food: $300"). It is non-sensitive configuration data.
flutter_secure_storage — settings, PIN, dark mode preference, and the Hive encryption key are stored in the platform keystore (Android Keystore on Android), backed by hardware-level security.
PIN Lock — optional 4-digit PIN prevents unauthorized access on app open.

Since there are no servers, there is no risk of a server-side data breach affecting your information.

6 Data Retention

Your data is retained on your device until one of the following occurs:

You clear data from Settings → Clear All Data
You uninstall the application
Your device storage is wiped or reset

There is no automatic data expiration. Your history is preserved as long as the app is installed.

7 No User Accounts

Smart Expense Tracker does not have user accounts, login systems, or authentication services. You do not need to create a profile or provide any personal information to use the app.

✓ No sign-up. No sign-in. No email. No password (beyond your optional local PIN).

8 Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Smart Expense Tracker does not collect any data from anyone — including children under the age of 13. The app has no data collection mechanisms of any kind, making it inherently compliant with COPPA and similar children's privacy regulations.

9 Your Rights

Because we collect no data, there is nothing for us to access, modify, or delete on your behalf. Your rights over your data are exercised directly on your device:

Delete all data: Settings → Clear All Data
Export your data: Settings → Export to CSV
Uninstall: removes all app data from your device

10 Third-Party Libraries

This app does not integrate any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or social features. There are no embedded trackers of any kind.

The app uses the following open-source libraries for local functionality only:

webview_flutter — displays this Privacy Policy page inside the app (requires INTERNET permission)
share_plus — used only when you choose to export your data as a CSV file. It invokes the Android system share sheet so you can send the file to an app of your choice (e.g. email, Drive). No data is shared automatically or without your explicit action. The app never initiates any sharing on its own.
fl_chart, hive, flutter_secure_storage, intl, csv, get, uuid — all operate entirely locally with no network access.

11 Internet Permission

Smart Expense Tracker requests the INTERNET permission for one purpose only:

To display this Privacy Policy in the in-app WebView when accessed from Settings → Privacy Policy

The permission is never used for data transmission, telemetry, advertising, or any form of network communication related to your financial data.

12 Google Play Data Safety

On the Google Play Data Safety form, this app is declared as:

No data collected: True — no user data is collected or transmitted
No data shared with third parties: True
Encryption in transit: N/A (no data is transmitted)
Data deletion option: Yes — via Settings → Clear All Data

13 GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Because Smart Expense Tracker collects zero personal data and operates entirely on-device with no data transmission, it is compliant with:

COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)

No data processing agreements are needed. No data protection officer is required. No explicit consent banners are needed.
